This Privacy Policy explains how the developer of Dictafy (“we”) handles information in the Dictafy: Voice Notes iOS app (“Dictafy”).

Summary

Dictafy has no accounts. Your recordings, transcripts, and notes are stored on your device. We do not sell your data or use it for advertising.

Information stored on your device

Audio recordings, transcripts, cleaned-up notes, and app settings are stored locally on your iPhone. Deleting a note or the app removes this data from your device. If you use iCloud device backups, iOS may include app data in your backup under Apple’s terms.

Speech recognition

Dictafy may use Apple’s on-device speech recognition. Depending on your device and settings, Apple may process speech under Apple’s own privacy policy.

Optional cloud processing

Some features (such as enhanced transcription or AI cleanup) may, when enabled, send the relevant audio and/or transcript text to a third-party AI provider such as OpenAI (or a compatible service) solely to return the transcription or cleaned text to you. This happens only for the notes you process with those features. We do not use this content to build profiles, and we do not store it on our own servers. The provider handles data under its own terms; OpenAI’s API policy states API data is not used to train its models by default. If cloud features are not enabled, your content stays on your device.

Purchases

Subscriptions are processed by Apple through In-App Purchase. We do not receive your payment card details. Apple may share limited transaction information (e.g., subscription status) needed to unlock features.

Permissions

Microphone access is used only to record notes you start. Speech recognition permission is used only to transcribe your recordings.

Analytics and tracking

Dictafy does not include third-party advertising or tracking SDKs and does not track you across other companies’ apps or websites.

Children

Dictafy is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Your choices

You can delete notes at any time in the app, revoke microphone or speech permissions in iOS Settings, and avoid cloud features to keep all processing on-device.

We may update this policy; the date above will reflect the latest version.
